Peony Care Page
Your Go-To Guide for Keeping Peonies Happy in the Heat.
Peonies are absolute showstoppers, and with a little TLC, they’ll last longer than you think (up to 5 days). Here’s how to get the most out of your beautiful blooms.
Step 1 | Strip those leaves
Before you pop your peonies in a vase, remove any leaves from the lower part of the stems. You don’t want them sitting in water – leaves in water can cause bacteria, and your flowers won’t love that.
Step 2 | Give them a fresh cut
Use sharp, clean scissors to trim the stems at an angle by 3-5cm. This gets rid of any dry ends and makes it easier for your peonies to drink up all that good water!
Step 3 | Feed your flowers
Each of our peony posies comes with Petal&Post’s signature posy food – and trust me, they need it! Mix the food into 1L of cool water, and don’t forget to give your vase a good clean before adding your flowers.
Step 4 | Keep them chill
Peonies can be a little fussy when it’s hot.
Keep them out of direct sunlight and in a
cooler room if possible however avoid aircons. The warmer it is, the faster they bloom, so if you want to stretch out their beauty, give them a shady spot.
Step 5 | Stay hydrated!
Peonies are thirsty blooms, so make sure to
top up their water daily. And don’t forget to
clean the vase every other day to keep
everything fresh and fabulous!
