Sending Roses in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban

Petal&Post was founded in 2017, and has since been offering same-day delivery of farm-fresh posies in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, Stellenbosch, Pretoria and a recently opened depot in Ballito. We wanted to expand our horizons to include a luxury rose box – including only the freshest roses and designed to leave a lasting impression.

The rose box will include 20 roses (imported directly from Kenya) in a mix of pink & red tones, wrapped in a floral hydration wrap and non-woven fabric to keep them extra fresh in transit. We’ve even had a specially designed box to comfortably fit them into, exclusive to Petal&Post, by the amazing Josie from Seen Creative in Cape Town.

How to Care for your Roses: Tips for Long-Lasting Bouquets

If you’re treating yourself to some roses, or have been lucky enough to be the recipient of a rose box, here are some top tips to help you care for your roses as best as possible and to give them the longest life in your vase.

Upon arrival, lift them up out of their box and unwrap them. Grab your favourite pair of secateurs and ensure that you trim your roses at a 45 degree angle, this allows them to drink up all the fresh water you’re putting them in. On that note – make sure to fill your vase one third of the way full with clean, cold water and include your Petal&Post Posy Food

Gently pull off any leaves on the roses that will sit near the water – we want to ensure that no bacteria enters the water from the leaves. By pulling off the leaves, you’re also giving the roses less to keep alive – so that they can focus on the beautiful petals.

Make sure to keep your roses out of direct sunlight, heat or dry air. We’d suggest keeping them away from any heaters, strong fans or aircons. This allows them the best environment to thrive in.

In terms of caring for them as you enjoy watching them bloom, you can gently pull off any petals that start to brown after a week or so. Similarly with any leaves that start to dry, give them a gentle tug.

Most importantly, enjoy them! Keep your eyes peeled for when our rose box officially launches, we can’t wait to deliver roses to you soon!
